California with Fourth Best Statewide Home Price Rise
From December 2011 to December 2012, national home prices rose 8.3%, which is the largest increase in six years. Repeat: SIX YEARS. That’s since May 2006. Some of the top songs in May 2006 were Ne-Yo’s “When You’re Mad”, The Fray’s “Over My Head”, and Chris Brown’s “Gimme That”. You might not think that’s relevant, but as far as moving forward and progressing…let’s just say I’m glad we did that. California actually did even better than most of the nation. With a 12.6% raise in home prices from December 2011 to December 2012, Californians experienced the fourth best statewide housing price increase in the nation. Only Arizona, Nevada, and Idaho had better increases. But let’s be honest…Arizona may have the Grand Canyon, Nevada may have Las Vegas, and Idaho may have potatoes, but California has Los Angeles, and you don’t mess with that. In fact, the Los Angeles-Long Beach-Glendale market experienced a 9.8 % increase in home prices, also beating […]Read More
In 2013, Housing Will Drive the Economy
Over half the economists surveyed by CNNMoney believed the housing recovery will be the driving force in our economic growth this year. In 2012, home sales bounced back to their best level in five years. Buyers are back to the market because of near record low mortgage rates, rising home prices, and a drop in foreclosures. You might not think that rising home prices and a drop in foreclosures would necessarily lead to buyers coming back to the market, but the economy is all about consumer confidence — which is exactly what your LA Home Girl is all about. If you’re interested in buying a house, please contact your local LA Home Girl. According to the same survey from CNNMoney, home values are predicted to rise about 3.7%. This is due to a tight supply and an increasing demand. If you contact LA Home Girl soon, you can jump ahead of this trend, and see your investment take hold within […]Read More

Good News Home Sellers, Prices Looking Up!
Hey sellers, we didn’t’ forget about you at LA Home Girl, and it looks like times are looking good. Lenders have foreclosed on mortgages in the Los Angeles area at a rate now around 1.67% of all home loans, confirmed by CoreLogic. That’s down! A year ago it was 2.67% in this same month in 2012, and that rate was already lower than the national average of 2.97%. It looks like fewer people are falling behind on their mortgages, which is good too. With all home loans in the area, only about 5.41% were behind on their payments by 90 days or more, compared to almost 7.43% a year ago! That’s a significant drop as well. Home prices are recovering, we can say that with assurance now. The data is there, and it’s time to think about moving on. For any of your step it up, move it out, dump your digs needs — just get in touch with LA […]Read More

Freddie Mac says Mortage Rates Stay Near Record Low
It’s a new year now and times are changing. The real estate market is on the up and up and there’s no question what 2013 will bring now that we’re making steps to stay clear of that pesky fiscal cliff. Even if you don’t know what fiscal cliff means, it’s important to know that you want to avoid it. You know…as you would a cliff. A fiscal one at that. However, all that fiscal cliff talk aside, the important thing to understand about the housing market RIGHT NOW is that mortgage rates are STILL LOW and experts are predicting a spike in the market. Fiscal cliff be damned, that’s a nice combo to hear if you’re a potential home buyer, especially in Southern California. I don’t know if you’ve heard, but California’s economy already showed signs of recovery since the latest movements to avoid the fiscal cliff. That’s good news, and it should continue. If you’re interested in taking advantage […]Read More
